It just seems the games get harder. This week we came into the home game against Banyule City after their recent form which had them sitting fifth on the ladder. We had a solid win the week before away to Brimbank Stallions. Coming into the starting lineup was Jakob Krajacic as Alex Dimond struggled with a hamstring injury which could keep him out for a few weeks. Brian Summerskill also came into the squad after four weeks injured. Young Nathan Buttigieg made his debut on the bench – always great to see young Georgies juniors coming into the squad. The match started in typical fashion with Banyule really enjoying the surface and playing some very good football. They have a strong midfield and are very well organised - it's no surprise they are sitting fifth on the table. No score at HT – we knew we had to do a little bit of tweaking tactically and be better in possession to see if we can get a response and result out of this game. Two set pieces saw us two nil up before Rhys Saunders and Brian Summerskill came on and made real impressions. Great sign for us. Rhys and Brian combined for our 3 three and we were three nil up. Great solo run by big Rhys. Great to see the depth in our squad. We have a very strong group that are all fighting together. Another very solid and pleasing result. This prepares as well for the massive game against Preston Lions next week. They will be aggressive, fit and desperate for a result so as to consolidate their promotion position. They will come out firing and it should be a massive game and a real test against the leagues benchmark. No coincidence that Preston are sitting on top of the ladder after 18 games and their many passionate and vocal fans will travel to City Vista. Should be a great atmosphere. We need all of our fans behind us this week! We want to keep our unbeaten home streak alive. This will be our biggest test yet. More Georgies courage required.
